Internal Gravity and Acoustic Waves - a Colloquium
Between 17 June and 26 July 1968 the Advance Study Program at NCAR and the Astro-Geophysics Department of the University of Colorado conducted a six-week colloquium on the general topic of internal gravity and acoustic waves in the atmosphere. The transcribed lectures and discussions by visiting authorities on theory and specific aspects of the problem, including ionospheric disturbances viewed as manifestations of gravity waves, the propagation of tropospheric disturbances upward into the high atmosphere, gravitational and thermal tidal motions, internal gravity waves and turbulence, and mountain waves, are included in this report.
