ArcticRIMS: Daily Simulated runoff from Pan-Arctic Water Balance Model
106.251
Daily runoff is generated using the Pan-Arctic Water Balance Model (P/WBM) [Rawlins et al., 2003]. The P/WBM simulates the high-latitude water cycle by utilizing gridded fields of plant rooting depth, soil characteristics (texture, organic content), vegetation, and daily time series of precipitation [Serreze et al., 2003] and air temperature. Model inputs and outputs are defined at 29,926 grids of ~25 km (628 km^2) resolution across the Pan-Arctic on the Equal-Area Scalable Grid (EASE-Grid) [Brodzik and Knowles, 2002]. The P/WBM includes a simple scheme for simulating daily changes in soil frozen and liquid water amounts, which is driven by air temperature, modeled soil moisture content, and physiographic data. The climate time series (precipitation and air temperature) originate from the National Center for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) reanalysis project [Kalnay et al., 1996], with the precipitation inputs described in Serreze et al., 2003. The data is presented in 24 sub-datasets of different spatial and temporal aggregations.
