Miami Isopycnic Coordinate Ocean Model Output

<p>This archive has three distinct Miami Isopycnic Coordinate Ocean Model (MICOM) outputs. The output grids are for isopycnal layers, at one-twelfth degree spatial and three-day temporal resolution. Water temperature, salinity, and velocity components are the primary output variables. The model domain is the Atlantic Ocean from 65-70N to 28S latitude and in two cases includes the Mediterranean Sea. The three cases are briefly outlined below and differ primarily in the atmospheric forcing that is used.</p> <p> <ul> <li> <b>MICOM.ICOADS</b> </li> <ul> <li>International Comprehensive Ocean-Atmosphere Data Set (ICOADS) mean wind forcing</li> <li>Domain: 28S to 65N, 98W to 17E</li> <li>16 isopycnal layers</li> <li>Six years of data</li> </ul> <li> <b>MICOM.ECMWF</b> </li> <ul> <li>ECMWF mean wind forcing</li> <li>Domain 28S to 70N, 98W to 36E, includes the Mediterranean Sea</li> <li>20 isopycnal layers</li> <li>Three years of data</li> </ul> <li> <b>MICOM.DAILY</b> </li> <ul> <li>ECMWF 6-hourly forcing (wind, surface radiation, air temperature and humidity)</li> <li>Domain 28S to 70N, 98W to 36E, includes the Mediterranean Sea</li> <li>20 isopycnal layers</li> <li>1979-1986</li> </ul> </ul> </p> <p>Details about the model forcing, mixing parameterization, bottom topography, computational requirements, and browse graphics are available at the <a href="http://oceanmodeling.rsmas.miami.edu">MICOM website</a> </p>
