Title

PM2.5 Equivalent Black Carbon Measurements from ASCENT

Alternative title(s)

Abstract

In this dataset, data from a 7-wavelength aethalometer (AE33, Aerosol Magee Scientific) are reported. The instrument reports its measurements at 1 minute intervals. Light attenuation through the filter at each wavelength is converted to equivalent black carbon concentration, assuming a corresponding mass absorption cross-section.

ASCENT Data Policy: The ASCENT (Atmospheric Science and Chemistry mEasurement NeTwork) data are freely available to the public and the scientific community. Since these data are the product of extensive and continuous effort by the team to maintain ASCENT instrumentation and collect and process high-quality data, we expect data users to ensure that the responsible ASCENT team members receive fair credit for their work and are offered the opportunity to contribute to the data analysis and co-author manuscripts, as appropriate. Note that co-authorship eligibility is not limited to writing sections of a paper but rather it encompasses the broader contribution to data collection and analysis. Early communication with ASCENT team members and individual site principal investigators (contact information available here [https://ascent.caltech.edu/people]) is expected to ensure the quality and limitations of the data are accurately represented in the planned research. When using these data in a publication or presentation, we require that you: * Include this statement in the acknowledgement section: "The ASCENT data used in this work were supported by National Science Foundation (NSF) grants 2131914 and 2624916." * Cite the DOI for each ASCENT dataset used in your work (four citations total, one for each instrument). Use the citation text provided under the Citation tab on each dataset's GDEX page.
