ICARUS Chamber Experiment: Hildebrandt Ruiz Lab_20180103_DODECANE/nitrite_Chlorine radical_Ammonium sulfate_dry
d789073
Goals: Find SOA yield for dodecane + Cl under high NOx condition (NO2 injected). Investigate volatility behavior based on 2D thermograms. Summary: Ammonium sulfate seed (0.01M, 150 mL) was injected using an aerosol generation system. Cl2 gas and NO2 gas were injected from their cylinders. 90 ug/m^3 of dodecane was injected into a glass bulb and heated clean air was made to flow over it, carrying the volatilized dodecane into the chamber. After ~30 minutes (sufficient mixing time), lights were turned on for 1 hour. 112.8 ug/m^3 of SOA was formed, giving a mass yield of 1.25. This is Experiment #10 in associated publication. Organization: Hildebrandt Ruiz Lab Lab Affiliation: University of Texas at Austin, Austin, TX, USA Chamber: LHR Chamber Experiment Category: Gas phase chemical reaction, Volatility and partitioning, Aerosol formation Oxidant: Chlorine radical Reactants: DODECANE, nitrite Reaction Type: Photooxidation Temperature: 25 Seed Name: Ammonium sulfate
