ICARUS Chamber Experiment: Jimenez Lab_20181121_Toluene/Methyl nitrite/Nitric oxide_Hydroxyl radical_Ammonium sulfate
d789072

Goals:
Determine the average and individual gas-particle accommodation coefficients of reaction products formed from toluene photooxidation and contributing to SOA formation.

Summary:
Toluene, Methyl nitrite, NO, and particle seed added to chamber, UV lights turned on for 10-20 seconds, multifunctional products formed and some condensed to aerosol. The 10-20s UV light/photochemistry bursts were repeated 7 times. SMPS measurements of particle size distributions were conducted to determine particle formation, surface area and condensational sink rate coefficients. In this experiment reported, Aerosol-phase chemical species were measured with HR-AMS.

Organization: Jimenez Lab
Lab Affiliation: University of Colorado, Boulder
Chamber: 1-White (1W)

Experiment Category: Volatility and partitioning
Oxidant: Hydroxyl radical
Reactants: Toluene, Methyl nitrite, Nitric oxide
Reaction Type: Photooxidation
Temperature: 25
Seed Name: Ammonium sulfate
Pressure: 830 mbar
