Abstract

This technical note is a set of four documents describing the steps in using SCD computing. Introductory. The Primer : Version 2.2 is the first technical manual you read about computing in SCD. It is a carefully chosen subset of information located in other manuals. Using only information contained in this manual, you should be able to: Access the IBM 4381 (IO) front-end computer in SCD, Load your program and data into a storage device, Edit your program or data on the IBM 4381 (IO) computer, Execute your program on one of the Cray computers, and View the output generated by your program. It is organized according to the functions you perform, not by the equipment you use. each chapter in this manual. Version 2.2. Updates to Primer is a notice that the CRAY-1A computer at NCAR was decommissioned on February 1, 1989, and so CRAY-1A commands listed in this version of The Primer are no longer appropriate. Version 2.2. Telenet Logon Procedure is the procedure to access SCD's IBM 4381 (10) front-end computer or a variety of other computers in SCD and other divisions by selecting the appropriate PACX class. Version 2.2. Mass Storage System: MEXPORT and MIMPORT describe how to transfer your data to or from the Mass Storage System (MSS) on tape reels or cartridges. This document explains how to move your data to or from the Mass Storage System via the Cray computers, using either 1/2-inch, 9-track tapes or IBM format, 3480 cartridges.
