ICARUS Chamber Experiment: Nguyen Group_20210128_ALPHA-PINENE/Dinitrogen pentoxide_Nitrate radical_Ammonium sulfate
d789623
Goals: To quantify gas-phase product yields and the SOA yield from nighttime RO2+RO2- and RO2+NO3-dominated NO3-initiated chemistry of a-pinene using N2O5. This experiment in particular targeted RO2 + NO3 chemistry by using a high N2O5/pinene ratio. Summary: a-pinene and seed aerosol were injected into the chamber and allowed to mix, followed by N2O5, which quickly dissociated to NO2 and NO3. a-pinene decayed rapidly by reaction with NO3. Gas phase was monitored by CF3O- CIMS and particle formation by SMPS. After all injections, a DNPH cartridge was collected for offline HRMS analysis. Organization: Nguyen Group Lab Affiliation: UC Davis Chamber: Tran's big bag of air Experiment Category: Gas phase chemical reaction, Aerosol formation Oxidant: Nitrate radical Reactants: ALPHA-PINENE, Dinitrogen pentoxide Reaction Type: Dark oxidation Relative Humidity: 5 Temperature: 22 Seed Name: Ammonium sulfate Pressure: 755 Torr
