SEASAT-A Satellite Scatterometer Derived Surface Wind Stress for the Global Ocean
d726001

Scatterometer data from Seasat, until the mission abruptly ended in October 1978, was used to derive 10-meter wind speed components over the global ocean at 2.5-degree resolution. These winds were then used to compute surface stress using the Large and Pond formulation for the drag coefficient, assuming neutral stability.
