Material Strength Properties of Winzen StratoFilm

This report is part of a series prepared for the Materials Research Project of the NCAR Scientific Balloon Facility in order to extend the reliability and capabilities of scientific ballooning. A sample of "Winzen StratoFilm" was tested to evaluate its mechanical properties. Standard test procedures were used to determine the properties of ultimate tensile, tensile yield, tear initiation and tear propagation strengths as well as ultimate elongation and tensile modulus of elasticity.
