Meeting Review the Second NCAR Research Aircraft Fleet Workshop

This report provides details of a workshop held at NCAR during the period 15-16 April 1987, for the purposes of assessing the scientific needs for atmospheric research aircraft in the next 15 years, and recommending how the composition of the NCAR aircraft fleet should evolve to meet those needs. During the workshop, four working groups were organized to discuss the relative merits of acquiring and developing four different types of aircraft. Meeting in these individual working groups and later in plenary session, the workshop participants reached consensus on several important recommendations.
