Getting Set Up

This guide is the second in a series of user guides entitled Introduction to the NCAR Scientific Computing Division. Its purpose is to prepare you for your visit to NCAR and to ensure that your visit is a productive one. Chapter 1 explains the philosophy used to grant computer resources and how these resources are calculated. It also contains a complete explanation of the procedure for applying for computer time. Chapter 2 describes what account numbers are needed and how to obtain them. Finally, Chapter 3 is a guide to appropriate methods and formats to use in carrying computer-readable data and programs to the NCAR SCD computers.
